HP released the Slimline S3000 desktop PC in March 2007. HP's Slimline models specialised in offering a tiny, sleek desktop PC that packed the power of a full-sized PC into a smaller-sized case with a height of 10.87 inches and a width of 4.21 inches. HP shipped the Slimline S3000 with a primary choice of Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium. The Slimline S3000 came in two sub-models: the S3000e and the S3000y.
Processor and Motherboard
The HP Slimline S3000 came with an AMD Athlon dual-core processor. The processor had a speed of 2 GHz with a 512 KB plus 512 KB L2 cache. The computer had an ASUS motherboard.
Memory
The default option for memory on the HP Pavilion Slimline S3000 offered 1 GB of DDR2 SDRAM. Customers could expand the memory up to 2 GB in two 240-pin 1GB slots.
Drives
Most Slimline S3000 models came with a 7200rpm SATA hard drive with a capacity of 250 GB, but HP also offered hard drives ranging from a capacity of 160 GB to 750 GB. The optical drive provided DVD and CD-ROM reading and writing ability at 16X speed. HP used optical drives with LightScribe technology that enabled you to burn labels onto DVDs or CDs.
Graphics
An NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE video card provided integrated graphics for the Slimline S3000. The chip set gave the computer 128 MB of memory specifically set aside for graphics and allowed the operating system to use up to 319 MB of memory for graphics as needed.
Media
The Slimline S3000 contained a bay for HP's Pocket Media Drive, which offered additional media and file storage. The front panel had a USB port, a headphone jack and a 15-in-one digital media reader. The back of the machine had four additional USB ports. HP also offered an optional TV tuner card complete with a remote and receiver. The Slimline S3000 also had one FireWire port and came with a multimedia keyboard.

Software
HP provided several choices of the Windows Vista operating system ranging from Home Basic to Ultimate. The Slimline S3000 contained RealPlayer for a basic media player and a 60-day free trial of Symantec Norton Internet Security 2007. You could choose to include Microsoft Office 2007, Roxio Photo Suite, Roxio Creator and QuickBooks Pro 2007.
