The caret symbol is used in math and means a partial conjunction in symbolic logic, also known as the wedge, according to Wolfram Mathworld. Most computer keyboards, including the Mac's, make typing the caret symbol easy. It is on a number key, right above the letter keys on most Mac keyboards.
Open a word-processing program or any other application in which you can enter text, such as TextEdit.
Hold down the “Shift” key on your Mac keyboard.
Press the “6” key while holding the shift key and the caret symbol (^) will appear in your text.
