The Rosetta Stone language program is designed to interact with the user so they can learn to speak a foreign language. The program requires installing language discs, which can be purchased from a computer or electronics store to provide training in the specific language the owner wants to learn.
The procedure for installing a language disc onto a hard drive so it can be accessed by the Rosetta Stone program is slightly dissimilar depending upon whether you are using a Mac or PC. The only requirement is that the Rosetta Stone program already be installed on the hard drive.

Open the disc tray of the DVD drive. Put the Rosetta Stone Language Disc onto the disc tray. Close the disc tray.
Click on "Start" in the lower left corner of the screen. Select "Programs" from the pop-up menu. Select the Rosetta Stone" folder from the pop-up menu. Select the icon of the "Rosetta Stone" from the pop-up menu. Wait as the Rosetta Stone program loads.
- Right-click on the icon of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc when the files have all been copied.
- Select the Rosetta Stone" folder from the pop-up menu.
- Click on "Start" in the lower left corner of the screen.
- Select the Rosetta Stone" folder from the pop-up menu.
- Right-click on the icon of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc when the files have all been copied.
- Select the Rosetta Stone" folder from the pop-up menu.
Click on the language that is on the disc from the list of available languages that appear in the left column of the Rosetta Stone program. Click 'OK" to begin using the language from the Rosetta Stone Language Disc.
Quit the Rosetta Stone program.
Right-click on the desktop. Select "New Folder" from the pop-up menu. Name the folder with the same name as that of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc.
Double-click on the Rosetta Stone Language Disc's icon to open its window. Select all of the files in the window.
Drag the files onto the folder that has the same name as that of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc. Wait for the files to copy to the folder.
- Quit the Rosetta Stone program.
- Drag the files onto the folder that has the same name as that of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc.
- Quit the Rosetta Stone program.
- Drag the files onto the folder that has the same name as that of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc.
Right-click on the icon of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc when the files have all been copied. Select "Eject" from the pop-up menu. Eject the disc tray of the DVD drive. Remove the Rosetta Stone Language Disc from the disc tray. Close the disc tray.
Click on "Start" in the lower left corner of the screen. Select "Programs" from the pop-up menu. Select the Rosetta Stone" folder from the pop-up menu. Select the icon of the "Rosetta Stone" from the pop-up menu. Wait as the Rosetta Stone program loads.

Click on the language that was on the Rosetta Stone Language Disc from the list of available languages that appear in the left column of the Rosetta Stone program. Click "OK."
Press the "Browse" button on the pop-up window when it appears. Navigate to the desktop in the window that appears. Select the folder that has the same name as the Rosetta Stone Language Disc.
- Click on the language that was on the Rosetta Stone Language Disc from the list of available languages that appear in the left column of the Rosetta Stone program.
- Press the "Browse" button on the pop-up window when it appears.
Press the "OK" button to close the window. The Rosetta Stone program will now use the language from the folder that is on the hard drive. Quit the Rosetta Stone program when you are done.
Press the "Eject" key on the keyboard. Put the Rosetta Stone Language Disc onto the disc tray that has ejected from the DVD drive. Press the "Eject'' button on the keyboard to close the disc tray.
Double-click on the icon of the hard drive. Double-click on the "Applications" folder in the window that appears. Scroll down to the Rosetta Stone's icon in the window that appears. Double-click on the Rosetta Stone's icon to run the program.
- Drag the files onto the folder that has the same name as that of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc.

Press "Apple+Q" on the keyboard to quit the Rosetta Stone program.
Right-click on the desktop. Select "New Folder" from the pop-up menu. Name the folder with the same name as that of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc.
Double-click on the Rosetta Stone Language Disc's icon to open its window. Select all of the files in the window.
Drag the files onto the folder that has the same name as that of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc. Wait for the files to copy to the folder.

Drag the icon of the Rosetta Stone Language Disc to the Trash when the files have all been copied. Remove the Rosetta Stone Language Disc from the ejected disc tray. Press the "Eject" button on the keyboard to close the disc tray.
Double-click on the icon of the hard drive. Double-click on the "Applications" folder in the window that appears. Scroll down to the Rosetta Stone's icon in the window that appears. Double-click on the Rosetta Stone's icon to run the program.

- Quit the Rosetta Stone program by pressing "Apple+Q" when you are done.
TIP
Make a backup of the hard drive prior to installing the language disc--this will enable you to reinstall all of the software onto the hard drive should a disc error cause corruption throughout the hard drive.
WARNING
Do not use illegal copies of language discs --they are prone to causing problems when used with the Rosetta Stone program.
