Long-lasting hair extensions are usually applied by a stylist and last for up to three months or more, as long as they are cared for properly. There are several different types of bond extensions, which stylists bond to the natural hair using keratin glue or wax. Although keratin extensions typically last longer (up to six months), wax-based extensions are better for the hair. One disadvantage when sporting wax hair extensions is the removal. The wax can be stubborn and difficult to remove once the extensions are ready to come out. Fortunately, there are products specially made for wax-based extension removal.

TIP
According to Latest Beauty, certain brands of rum will take out most bond extensions. When shampooing after extension removal, it will appear as though large amounts of hair are falling out. This is associated with hair's natural shedding process, so do not be alarmed.

Do not use household pliers to remove bond extensions.
