How to Get a Girlfriend in University

Going to a university is a big change in a person's life. At a university, you have the freedom to go where you please and create your own schedule without anyone telling you what to do. If you have never had a girlfriend, this is a great time to start dating. If you dated throughout high school but moved away to go to college, chances are you will want to find a new girlfriend that goes to your school. Getting a girlfriend takes time and patience, but if you find a good match, the process will be more enjoyable than stressful.

Visit at least three student activity clubs that interest you. Clubs can range from outdoors/camping to bike riding to movie clubs. Join the club with the best atmosphere and diversity in gender. Meeting girls at club that interests you means you already know an activity you both like.

Go to social campus restaurants, bars or music venues with a casual group of friends. Try to be social with the people around you, and bring your friends into conversations. Sometimes, group settings and group discussions are easier and there is less dead space between topics.

Ask for a girl's phone number if she seems interested. Some signs a girl may be interested in you are: she may make several attempts to speak with you throughout the evening, you may have a very long conversation or she may try to make eye contact or she may flirt with subtle physical motions, such as placing her hand on your arm.

Say goodbye to the girl you are interested in before you leave the venue, bar or restaurant. Tell her you would like to see her again soon, and ask what days are best for her to hang out. Don't make another date just yet, but get the general idea of her schedule.

Call or text the girl you are interested in within one to three days. If you contact her right away she might feel stifled. However, if you wait too long she might forget who you are or have found another guy she's interested in. Ask her out to a similar venue. You have the option of making it a group get-together or a date.

You should ask her on a date only if you know she's interested in you. The benefits of asking her on a date are that you can speed up the process of getting to know each other and know whether you want her to be your girlfriend. However, if you ask her on a date before she knows whether she's truly interested in you, she may say "no," and then it will be harder to get her interested.

By asking her out for a group get-together, you have several advantages. Chances are she will say "yes," because she can bring her friends, which are her comfort zone, and they can leave together if she isn't having a good time. If her friends share interests with your friends, you have the possibility of an interesting group. She will know you like her either way.

Talk to her about shared interests while on your outing. Be respectful to her by opening doors and not trying to move too fast to get to a physical relationship. Instead, let her give you queues about what she's comfortable with. When the date or get-together is over, let her know you had a good time and that you hope to do something similar again soon.

Call her and try to see her once or twice a week. If she continues to accept your requests and you have gone on several dates, you can begin to talk to her about what a relationship means to her. Different girls will have different ideas of what a relationship is, what they want in a relationship and even whether they want a relationship. If your lady tells you she is single and would like to be in a relationship with you, then you have succeeded in getting a girlfriend. If her life is complicated or she doesn't want a relationship, you will have to decide whether to continue getting to know her or to try a different girl.
