Painting eggs is a great craft for young and old. Children love painting Easter eggs and many cultures use egg painting to create amazing decorations. Egg decorating techniques can range from dying and painting simple patterns to creating ornate, detailed designs. No matter how detailed the work, painting eggs makes a wonderful activity for families and the end products make beautiful decorations.

Remove eggs from bowl and allow to dry.

Paint decorative patterns on the egg shells using either the food colouring or acrylic paint.

Place eggs in egg cups to dry.

TIP

For a different effect try dying eggs in food colouring. Make marbled eggs: mix equal parts vinegar, cooking oil, food colouring, and two cups of water. Place the hard boiled egg in the mixture then remove. Use a paper towel to gently dry the egg. Substitute your paint brushes with small pieces of sponge to create unusual patterns.
