Ikea sells wooden Venetian blinds in several different colours and materials, such as wood. Venetian blinds, often called horizontal blinds, have a multitude of horizontal slats connected to a headrail. Inside the headrail, you will locate a ratcheting system that controls a rope. Pull the rope and you raise the blind. Release the rope and you lower it. Two different ways exist for you to install a blind. You can install it inside the window frame or you can install it over the window frame.

Place the left mounting bracket in the upper left corner of the window frame and mark the mounting holes onto the frame. Repeat this process with the right mounting bracket in the upper right corner of the frame.
Drill out pilot holes with a hand drill and drill bit. Do not forgo drilling the pilot holes. The screws supplied with the blind are soft metal and you will easily strip the screw-heads if you attempt to secure them without pilot holes.
Place the brackets over the holes and secure them with the supplied screws and a screwdriver.
Place the headrail into the brackets and then slide the front covers onto each bracket. The front cover holds the headrail into the brackets and prevents it from falling when you pull on the string.

Place the mounting brackets at each end of the window where you scribed the lines. Mark the mounting hole locations on the wall with a pencil. Place the brackets off to the side.
Drill holes into the wall using your marked locations. Drill holes large enough for wall anchors. Drive the wall anchors into the wall with a hammer.
