Silicone bakeware is found in many kitchens, as it provides a flexible and easy to use baking surface. When preparing strong smelling foods in the bakeware, like onions and garlic -- or when you burn food while baking -- odour sometimes gets left behind. To properly clean and deodorise your silicone, you will want to use something that will not harm the bakeware, that is also safe for human consumption.

Fill the kitchen sink with warm water, 1 tbsp dish soap and 1/2 cup baking soda. The soapy water cleans and removes residue, while the baking soda absorbs and removes odour.
Put the silicone bakeware into the soapy water and swish it around for about 10 seconds. Scrub it with a dishrag or brush.
Rinse the silicone with warm water and allow it to air dry.
Sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda over the entire piece of silicone bakeware and let it sit for about 2 hours.
Shake the silicone over the rubbish bin, to remove excess baking soda and rinse it again with warm water. Allow the bakeware to air dry.
