You can thaw and enjoy a frozen store-bought or homemade chocolate fudge cake in just a few hours. Premade frozen chocolate cakes are convenient desserts for a party or other special event, and they can taste just as moist and rich as homemade versions. If you made a chocolate fudge cake and have more left over than you'll be able to eat within a few days, store the sweet treat in a freezer to eat up to a few months later.

Remove the frozen chocolate fudge cake from the freezer. Keep it in its packaging, whether foil, cling film, a food storage container or a cardboard box.
Transfer the packaged cake to the refrigerator and allow it to defrost for two hours. Wrap the cake in a layer of cling film or place it in an airtight bag if the original packaging isn't adequate; a tight seal will prevent the cake from absorbing refrigerator odours.
Take the cake out of the refrigerator and remove the packaging; be careful not to brush against the chocolate frosting.
Place the cake on a rack, tray or stand and allow it to rest at room temperature for two hours, or until it is completely defrosted and ready to serve.
